Starting My Journey to a Master’s in Cybersecurity
My #JustStart Experience: Taking the First Step
This week, I started working on one of my main goals: getting admission abroad for a Master’s in Cybersecurity. It’s something I really want to do because I know it will improve my skills, give me international exposure, and help me grow in my career.
Why I Chose This Goal
I’ve been interested in cybersecurity for a long time, and I want to take it to the next level. Doing a Master’s abroad will give me the chance to learn advanced concepts, work on real projects, and also explore opportunities that I might not find here.
Struggles in the Past
In the past, I always felt stuck because I didn’t know where to start. I kept thinking about too many things at once—universities, deadlines, scholarships, and documents. That made me delay the process again and again.
My Experience This Week
For my #JustStart project, I focused only on the first step: researching and shortlisting 5 universities for my Master’s. I opened different websites, checked their requirements, deadlines, and scholarships, and wrote everything down in a table.
Once I started doing this, I felt lighter. Instead of worrying about the whole journey, I just worked on one simple task. It gave me clarity and made me feel like my dream is possible.
Challenges This Week
The biggest challenge was the huge amount of information. Every university has different conditions—some want IELTS, some don’t, some have scholarships, and others are too expensive. It took time to go through all of this carefully.
What I Learned
I learned that the hardest part is just starting. When I finally sat down and researched universities, it was not as scary as I thought. Breaking a big dream into small steps makes it much easier to handle.
Next Steps
Now that I’ve shortlisted universities, my next steps are:
-
Update and polish my CV.
-
Work on my Statement of Purpose and recommendation letters.
-
Start preparing for advanced cybersecurity certifications to make my application stronger.
